In today’s episode of ‘Defying the Odds’, I share with you my experience as part of the inaugural cohort of the Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI 2016) – a prestigious leadership development program for young entrepreneurs and civil society leaders from across Latin America and the Caribbean.
YLAI was initiated by Former U.S. President Barack Obama, and represents a key component of President Obama’s US$70 Million commitment to youth development across the region (Latin America and the Caribbean) – a U.S. Government initiative announced by the former President in April 2015, at a town hall meeting held at the University of the West Indies (UWI) in Mona, Jamaica.
The initiative is being spearheaded by the U.S. Department of State and Meridian International Center, and is poised to welcome its second cohort from October to November 2017. Applications for YLAI 2017 are being accepted through Friday, April 28.
